Goodmorning Disciples of Jesus Christ. We made it through another Blood Moon and patiently waiting on Our Lord and His instructions for us as His disciples. Our Lamps are lit and still filled with oil as we continue to get closer to Him and allowing ourselves to continue to be refined into His saints. Jesus Comforts His Disciples
1“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God a ; believe also in me. 2My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4You know the way to the place where I am going.”
Jesus the Way to the Father
5Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
6Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7If you really know me, you will know b my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
8Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
9Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. 12Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit
15“If you love me, keep my commands. 16And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be c in you. 18I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”
22Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?”
23Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.
25“All this I have spoken while still with you. 26But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
28“You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. 29I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe. 30I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me, 31but he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me.

So, this whole chapter in the gospel of John is amazing because Jesus basically summarizes everything we need to know as His disciples here in these few words He said to the Apostles. Jesus is just not comforting His Apostles, but He is comforting our hearts also two thousand years later as His disciples waiting for His return for us. He tells us that He is coming back for us because He has prepared a place for us in His Heavenly Kingdom. He also tells us that if we really KNOW HIM then we will know our Heavenly Father. Then Our Lord goes on to describe what it means to REALLY KNOW Him. In verses 6 through 14, Our Lord tells us that the only way to the Father is through Him. That means that if you are trying to know God Our Father through any other religion outside of Jesus Christ and Christianity, then you will never get there. It also means that if you don’t KNOW Jesus Christ, and are simply a Christian by name only, or born into a family that claims Christianity, but doesn’t practice your faith, you don’t know God or Jesus Christ His Son.
Our Lord takes this teaching a step even further for us to understand in verses 15 through 23 when He tells us that if we LOVE HIM, then We will keep HIS COMMANDS. He also tells us that anyone who LOVES HIM will OBEY His teachings. He then states very plainly that anyone who does not LOVE HIM WILL NOT OBEY HIS TEACHINGS. Meaning if we do not keep His Commandments or Obey His teaching then we do not LOVE HIM, and we do not KNOW HIM. If we do not LOVE HIM, then we do not KNOW HIM or our Heavenly Father. This means that all of the people who pretend to know Our Lord because they pretend to go to Church, or they pretend that they pray, DOESN’T KNOW HIM OR LOVE HIM BECAUSE THEY DO NOT OBEY HIS COMMANDMENTS OR TEACHINGS. This is very easy to distinguish in people because if you believe in abortion, or you back abortion through political affiliation, then you are not obeying Jesus or His teachings, and you don’t truly KNOW HIM or LOVE HIM. This is the same with any sin that breaks His Commandments, Laws and Holy Word in the Bible.
Then Our Lord explains it even further by teaching us that He sent the Holy Spirit as our advocate to guide us to all Truth in verses 15 through 18. Our Lord said He would not leave us as orphans but will come to us through His Holy Spirit. Jesus told us He is the WAY, The TRUTH, and The LIFE. So, we have to go through JESUS to get the Father (WAY). If we follow His Commandments and OBEY HIM, then He sends the Advocate (HOLY SPIRIT=TRUTH). If we live according to all TRUTH because we seek JESUS daily in our hearts, then we have Life in us (LIFE). Meaning if we have done everything according to what Jesus teaches us and obeyed everything He has taught us, then we live eternally with Him and our Father in the Heavenly Kingdom because we have been guided by the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is with us only as much as we try and obey Our Lord through His Commandments and teachings. But, if we sin against God by not obeying Him, then the Holy Spirit pulls back and allows our own free will to choose life or death. Life with God and all of His Ways and Commandments, or death with sin and the prince of the world (Satan) that He described in verse 29. As God’s Disciples we know we must try and learn not only how to obey Our Lord and all of His teachings, but to ascend even higher in holiness by eradicating all of our defects and detaching ourselves from the world and allowing the Holy Spirit to fill us up so completely with the Glory of God that we perform works even greater than what Jesus showed us during His ministry on Earth. Our Lord tells us this in verse 12, and if we ask of anything in His name, He will grant it because He goes through the Heavenly Father.
So, this chapter is like a “How TO DO IT” step by step explanation of how to get to God Our Father and His Heavenly Kingdom and how to be united to all THREE PERSONs of the Holy Trinity. If we offend one through sin, we offend all, and we can’t pretend that we KNOW God, if we advocate any form of sin even if it is only through political affiliation. This is why we read His Holy Word and work very hard through His Graces to eradicate sin from our lives to ensure we are pleasing Jesus, so that the Holy Spirit is continuing to guide us to all TRUTH. If we are choosing the sins of this world, then we are CHOOSING against God, and the Holy Spirit will pull back and we will not be able to discern anything correctly. This is what it means to be blinded by sin. SATAN has blinded you by choosing sin over God, therefore you can’t see or hear the TRUTH, who is the Holy Spirit.
We must have the Holy Spirit with us to discern all things in this world now because the spirit of deception (Satan) has placed in this world is at an all-time high. No decision should be made on anything without the Holy Spirit and His guidance, and if you are still not sure, seek the help of a holy Priest or Pastor. We have weeded out a few prophets from this blog that we started out with because of some things they have said that just did not sit right in our discernment with the Holy Spirit, and we must continue to do this when we read any prophetic messages. This is why Our Church teaches us to seek Church approval of prophets, visionaries and mystics. This is a very good practice because of our Churche’s apostolic authority, but there also have been many prophets in the past that have had some of their prophetic messages fulfilled recently that a Bishop said was not getting supernatural messages. So, at this point, we keep turning to our Church, but at the same time keep discerning with the help of the Holy Spirit and compare everything to God’s Holy Word. None of us are perfect at discernment, and this is why we continually discern with the Holy Spirit’s guidance.
Let us Pray – Lord, we seek Your Holy Spirit to guide us in everything and we yield to Your Divine Will. If we are not in obedience to Your Divine Will and Commandments, please convict us so that we may seek confession and repentance and get rightly ordered back to You and the Blessed Trinity. We ask this in Your name, Jesus Christ. Amen.
