Psalm 73

A psalm of Asaph.

“¹ Truly God is good to Israel,
    to those whose hearts are pure.
² But as for me, I almost lost my footing.
    My feet were slipping, and I was almost gone.
³ For I envied the proud
    when I saw them prosper despite their wickedness.
⁴ They seem to live such painless lives;
    their bodies are so healthy and strong.
⁵ They don’t have troubles like other people;
    they’re not plagued with problems like everyone else.
⁶ They wear pride like a jeweled necklace
    and clothe themselves with cruelty.
⁷ These fat cats have everything
    their hearts could ever wish for!
⁸ They scoff and speak only evil;
    in their pride they seek to crush others.
⁹ They boast against the very heavens,
    and their words strut throughout the earth.
¹⁰ And so the people are dismayed and confused,
    drinking in all their words.
¹¹ “What does God know?” they ask.
    “Does the Most High even know what’s happening?”
¹² Look at these wicked people—
    enjoying a life of ease while their riches multiply.

¹³ Did I keep my heart pure for nothing?
    Did I keep myself innocent for no reason?
¹⁴ I get nothing but trouble all day long;
    every morning brings me pain.

¹⁵ If I had really spoken this way to others,
    I would have been a traitor to your people.
¹⁶ So I tried to understand why the wicked prosper.
    But what a difficult task it is!
¹⁷ Then I went into your sanctuary, O God,
    and I finally understood the destiny of the wicked.
¹⁸ Truly, you put them on a slippery path
    and send them sliding over the cliff to destruction.
¹⁹ In an instant they are destroyed,
    completely swept away by terrors.
²⁰ When you arise, O Lord,
    you will laugh at their silly ideas
    as a person laughs at dreams in the morning.

²¹ Then I realized that my heart was bitter,
    and I was all torn up inside.
²² I was so foolish and ignorant—
    I must have seemed like a senseless animal to you.
²³ Yet I still belong to you;
    you hold my right hand.
²⁴ You guide me with your counsel,
    leading me to a glorious destiny.
²⁵ Whom have I in heaven but you?
    I desire you more than anything on earth.
²⁶ My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak,
    but God remains the strength of my heart;
    he is mine forever.

²⁷ Those who desert him will perish,
    for you destroy those who abandon you.
²⁸ But as for me, how good it is to be near God!
    I have made the Sovereign Lord my shelter,
    and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things you do.”

So, when Our Lord tells us that we must carry our crosses daily for Him to be His Disciples, isn’t this exactly what is meant here in Psalm 73, but we don’t understand it because we are constantly seeing the wicked flourish? So, we slip and fall back a little in our Faith sometimes because we see evil flourishing, while it appears we are being punished for trying to be holy for God. But, as we deepen our Relationship with Our Lord to become Truly Sanctified, He reveals to us again that it is necessary for us to carry this cross, and we will eventually be rewarded for our perseverance and faithfulness to Him. God knows we are going to slip from time, but we should never give up on getting up again, and again, to keep pursuing His Sacred Heart.

This could be perceived as what is happening now with some that have taken the vaccine because it was perceived as a charitable action and love of neighbor. But, as we begin to understand that God never intended for aborted stem cells to be used for anything because abortion is an egregious sin, especially mocking Him and His Ways by using it in the pretense of “Charity”. We can always come back to God, ask for His forgiveness in Repentance, and know that He is our Refuge in all matters, including life or death decisions involving vaccines. These are the decisions we make in our LOVE, RESPECT, and HONOR of HIM. So, again, if you have received the vaccine believing in your heart you were doing the right thing for God, and now have regrets, ask Our Lord for His forgiveness, then seek Him in Adoration on how to make reparation for Him. We will all be guided by the Holy Spirit if we seek Our Lord for these answers. We will also be guided and know what we need to do for Our Lord to make reparation for our sins and offenses, when He reveals it to us at the Warning/Illumination of Conscience.

Let us Pray – Lord, please continue to guide us in all of Your Ways. When we slip and fall back away from You, convict us by Your Holy Spirit of what we have done and how we can make reparation for our sins and offenses against You and the Blessed Trinity. We are constantly seeking You and seeking Your Servants who are good shepherds in hearing Your voice. We also seek to hear Your voice so that we remain in Your Divine Will and not be deceived. Our Refuge is in Your Sacred Heart, and we have wolves in sheep’s clothing all around us, trying to pull us away from You and Your Divine Will. Speak to us Lord through the whispers of Your Holy Spirit in the stillness of our hearts so that we hear Your voice, as You have promised us in Your Holy Word in John 10:27, “My Sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” Thank Your Lord for Your Love. We ask this in Your name, Jesus Christ. Amen.

These are the tactics that Satan uses as “FEAR” and entitlements to those that will join him in his rebellion against God, but is disguised as a “good or charitable” thing to do. Very much similar to Psalm 73, and what Reverend Fulton Sheen described as antichrist spirit signs in our times, we must not look at the freedoms and life pleasures we will be losing as the pressure to get a vaccine continues to mount on those of us that continue to stand with God and abide in all of His Ways. But, we must continue to rejoice in the Refuge of Our Lord’s Sacred Heart and believe that no matter what happens, we will ultimately be with Our Lord in Paradise, which are all the riches one could ever ask for and freedom eternally with Him.
